Knight Light is a project I created as a means to explore characters, design and theme as well as practice my skills at building a world and shaping stories within it. It centers around a singular character, the Knight as they set out into a world that has been largely abandoned after years of assault from an unrelenting force of darkness. It is about hope and finding those pockets of light when the world around you can seem so oppressively dark. Below you’ll find character exploration as well as some illustrations exploring the style and tone of the hero character.

Currently Knight Light is essentially an art and writing project though I am slowly tinkering on bringing it into its own tabletop roleplaying system and setting. I hope to continue to explore the world and its characters and share those projects

The world of Knight Light contains a multitude of characters. Of those characters the ones born of the Light will be primarily your allies. Offering aid, assistance or respite from the unforgiving lands. Among them you may find a softspoken and wise elder, a gruff but kind blacksmith, an enigmatic and adventurous warrior, a creature of the Light but not Candlekin, thought to be the last remaining of their kind, or even an old hermit who may seem broken and beaten but is not so dull with their blade.

While most of the Light are good and kind, much like our own reality there are those who despite their appearance may not be as keen on assisting the rest of those who remain or have the best of intentions for our hero.

There are also those born of the Dark. While not all are dastardly, just as not all of the Light are divine, it is still wise to proceed with caution.

Exploring the lands you may encounter creatures of the Dark such as the fallen Candlekin who has given themselves over to the Dark and now serves as an adversary to the Knight. The Hollowed Knights who wander the halls of fallen kingdoms searching for Light to snuff out. The Thread Spinner, more interested in the stories woven into the threads of the lands than in any one side of this endless conflict. Entities who possess the abandoned husks of fallen champions of the Light or truly dangerous hunters who rampage the lands hunting Candlekin for sport and collecting their Light like trophies of a successful expedition.
